MFD paper & slides – thing 20

Excellent – I’ve been wondering for a long time how to upload my paper presentation to my blog. I did try a while back and crashed the system, but now I can do it with slidecasting – yeah….. Hope you like it…. OK added an updated version of the presentation (its slideware software that’s making my powerpoint look incomplete – its ok on my thumbdrive) and the actual paper itself :-)

Papers from Adelaide now online

My paper and others is now available online. Go to: http://conferences.alia.org.au/libtec2009/ click on Conference Programme, and then click on the links.

They didn’t spell my title correctly, should read digitised and NOT digitalised. Should I care? I feel like telling them to change it, but is that me being petty? Took me so long to decide a title, they should get it right.

But I am happy it’s online finally, so others can read it if they wish. I was very happy yesterday, a lady rang me from QLD Main Roads Library asking for a copy of my paper – WOW wasn’t expecting that. A great boost :-)

The day has finally arrived…..

I can’t believe it has been 2 years to get to this stage. I remember when I was in Melbourne for the 2007 conference thinking, “I can do this, I can write a paper and stand up in front of a large group of people and talk about something happening in my library“. Well it’s only a few days until I present my paper.

I can’t believe I have actually written the paper. I was so scared at first. Like I really liked the idea of doing it but putting pen to paper was pretty difficult to start with, but I got there evenutally with a lot of support from friends near and far and work colleagues, so thanks to you all – you know who you are! It was a lof of hard work and many long hours of editing, re-editing and re-editing again, but it was all worth the experience and the PD sessions I attended, (especially Rachel Green’s).

I am really excited and can’t wait to get to Adelaide. It’s going to be a great weekend spending time with my boyfriend and his sister and seeing the sights. Having a bit of relaxation time and chilling out is just what I need.

Come Monday when I check in and meet up with my LT friends, it will be all go. I plan to try and blog daily about my experiences, so watch this space! :-) (After I’ve presented I will attach my paper and / or presentation to my blog so you can all check it out – if you’re interested).

It’s going to be so much fun, I can’t wait :-)

Adelaide conference is getting close

I know I have been quiet lately and not posting, but I’ve been really busy:

  • I’ve now finised my final draft of my conference paper (I plan to “post in the  mail”  this Friday or next Monday at the latest – then I’ll post a copy online for anyone who is interested in reading it)
  • The 2011 Perth conference committee have been VERY busy. I’ve drafted a logo and ALIA’s graphic designer has created it into a masterpiece.
  • We’ve been working on our presentation for Adelaide – The Convenor has to present a 15 min talk / side presentation on why everyone should come to lovely Perth in 2011!!!!
  • Finally we have our PCO on board – yeah: Professional Conference Organiser – ICE - so it’s all happening over here in Perth.

The weather has been lovely and sunny, cold, but no rain – what I love (even though our farmers need the rain).

So its about 6 weeks til Adelaide and then a couple of months til my next holiday. Have waited so long and I am beginning to feel like I do need a break from everything. My mind is filled with conference stuff, paper and power point presentation ideas, holiday planning for next year…….. It’s all full steam ahead for me – well wouldn’t want it any other way. :-) And I am enjoying it all! I can’t wait to present (beginning to feel VERY nervous now….) in Adelaide and I can’t wait to see how it all turns out with our conference organising for 2011.

Quiet lately

I haven’t made a post lately….. Nothing exciting happening. I was sick for a week and a half. Gave me the opportunity to read a few books and watch some DVDs.

I’ve started doing some serious writing for my paper and powerpoint talk. I am really happy that I’ve found something to write!!!! I’ve had all these ideas but typing them up is a differnt matter. I still have over a month to rewrite and edit, but a lot of pressure off me now that I am beginning to make some progress! :-)
