MFD paper & slides – thing 20

Excellent – I’ve been wondering for a long time how to upload my paper presentation to my blog. I did try a while back and crashed the system, but now I can do it with slidecasting – yeah….. Hope you like it…. OK added an updated version of the presentation (its slideware software that’s making my powerpoint look incomplete – its ok on my thumbdrive) and the actual paper itself :-)

LT Committee 2011 are a success!!!!

How I could I forget this!  Something so important to myself and 15 other great people from WA…. 16 Library Technicians formed a committee to write and submit a proposal to have the 2011 Library Technician conference here in Perth. We submitted our proposal in April and we were all told a few weeks back that we were SUCCESSFUL!!!! Hooray for us :-)

I am so thrilled we get to go to the next step and organise and present the next LT conference here in good old Perth in September 2011. It’s going to be a very busy couple of years, but we can do it. We have a great team of passionate LT’s who lover their career and are hard workers and we’ll have fun at the same time!

This year the conference is in Adelaide. So far there are about 10 of us going to the conference, from the committee which is great!

I am speaking at this conference, a 15 min talk on my chosen topic. It’s only my 2nd conference and my first as a presenter. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I will have my WA LT’s there for support so it should be fine!

Go Team!!!! :-)

Interesting presentations

I attended a fantastic workshop today on how to give interesting conference presentations (the reason I was not blogging with you all). The presenter was Rachel Green. I am sure most of you may have heard of her, I think she is brilliant. I feel more confident in making my first conference presentation more interesting than it would have been had I not attended her workshop. I think she is giving the same presentation in 2nd semester. I would encourage you to go, it’s useful for otehr types of speeches as well.

For those who don’t know I am writing and presenting a paper (my 1st – very scary!!!) at the next LT conference. I don’t want to give too much away…… but I am really excited about doing a speech now…. and I have made a start on the paper. I have so many ideas, but putting them down onto paper isn’t that easy, but I’m practicing. :-)
